Saint Marc

Saint Marc

Our apologies to those vegetarian and vegan readers, we promise to have something just for you coming up soon (as in, next paragraph!). But when it came to reading about this particular new OC eatery, our minds stopped registering words when we got to “Bacon Bar”. We are fans of bars to enjoy a nice craft cocktail made with organic ingredients and a lot of artistic flair (which you can certainly do here, we’re looking at you, Pommery Pop Champagne). And we certainly love bacon, particularly when it comes in a range of finely cured options, ala the 11 varieties like Apple Pie and Garlic Parmesan with which you can design your own Bacon Flight), so how could we go wrong to combine the two.

It isn’t that they are anti-non-carnivores, this hip new spot is also a cheese affinage, as in the art and process of aging cheese. Impressive cheese plates abound, in fact, and balance and excellent variety of gourmet spins on classic brunch goods. One thing that might surprise the casual passerby, the folks at St. Marc also aren’t anti-kid. The CEO of the joint has a few sons he kept in mind as they developed their Kids Menu.

“Our kids menu is unparalleled and delicious enough to be enjoyed by all,” says Thomas (Mac) McFarland Gregory III, CEO of Saint Marc USA. “Kids can order themselves and are so excited to customize their meal and select their own add-ons like chocolate milk or a brownie a la mode. And with bacon by the slice and more than 130 types of cheese options — what kid wouldn’t love that?”

So next time you need to fuel up for the beach, or a little league tourney, check out Saint Marc Pub-Cafe, Bakery and Cheese Affinage and you’ll have all your bases covered.

breakfast popsicle

Breakfast a la GO!

Summer’s here and trying to get a healthy breakfast into your kid before a day of pool and beach fun isn’t always easy. Let the kids grab a “treat” on the way out the door and you’ll all be happy. These Milk and Cereal Breakfast Popsicles are full of Greek yogurt, milk, cereal, and bananas so you’ll feel great about serving them up any summer morning.

Ingredients:

  • 1 med/large banana (or 2 small)
  • 1 Cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 Cup strawberry milk
  • 1/2 Cup dry cereal

Directions:

  1. In the bowl of your mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, mix the banana on medium until mashed and smooth (approximately 1 minute).
  2. Slowly add in yogurt and milk. Continue mixing until blended. Add the cereal and stir by hand to avoid crushing it.
  3. Pour into popsicle molds. Freeze 8 hours until solid.

Notes:

  • Use any combination of flavored milk and cereal- chocolate milk with Cocoa Puffs or Captain Crunch, white milk with Cheerios, strawberry with Fruit Loops- the possibilities are endless!
  • Yield will vary according to size of popsicle molds.
