Selanne Steak Tavern
Cupid, Chef Josh Severson and his team will cast a magical spell at Selanne Steak Tavern this Valentine’s Day. In the chic upstairs dining room, cozy tavern or wine room and on the heated veranda, lovers will enjoy an Amuse Bouche of ‘Champagne Gourmand’ with an optional pairing of N.V. Nicholas Feuillatte Brut Reserve Champagne (3 oz). Followed by Bittersweet Scallops or Maine Lobster Hot Pot and then Jidori Chicken, Dover Sole with lemon risotto and caviar or American Wagyu Tenderloin. Water Grill
With a raw bar featuring 16 varieties of oyster alone, this seafood-heavy spot is the place to indulge. Love-struck revelers can enjoy special menu items created just for Valentines, or stick with a sensible plan of ordering wide and sharing. We love the whole charcoal grilled fish and picks from the live tank. (Don’t worry, your landlubber will meat their match with the “Double R Ranch” filets and ribeyes.) That Billionaire Feeling
Jet Suite X to Vegas
Now couples can skip to Vegas like high rollers for a Valentine weekend with a new flight service called Jet Suite X that offers a private jet experience within reach of the average Joe. It doesn’t matter what you do after you arrive in this fashion. We paired Jet Suite with a Vegas suite at the luxurious Palazzo on the Strip, dinner at the newly opened Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill and seats to the cabaret-flavored show “Baz—Star-Crossed Love.” Flights to Vegas from Burbank for $239 each way began last spring, and it’s really taking off. Each Embraer 135 aircraft seats 30 passengers, and flies as fast as 515 mph with a ceiling of 37,000 feet.
Other Jet Suite X destinations include Concord and San Jose in Northern California, Carlsbad and Santa Monica in Southern California, Bozeman Montana and Mammoth. If you like to fly with your posse, like rock stars do, you can book the entire jet for $8,000 per hour. For 30 flyers, that’s $300 per person per hour.
No word on when the Irvine-based company will start flying out of OC, but any inconvenience in the drive to Burbank is more than offset by the valet parking within a few steps from the gate, TSA-free uncrowded boarding from the historic Amelia Earhart hangar and, of course, that billionaire feeling. Your valentine will be very impressed.
