A Safe and Fun Environment for Special Needs Kids

Published March 27, 2020 Admin Only:

Armenta Learning Academy is now offering virtual education to meet the needs of special kids through the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the foreseeable future, the requirement of social distancing will undoubtedly create an increased demand for virtual learning options to meet this important need.

Meeting this demand locally for the special needs community is Laguna Niguel-based Armenta Learning Academy (armentalearningacademy.com).

The academy is now offering instant learning online through Skype and Google Chat in order to meet the needs of all of their children while they’re safely at home.

Founder Julie Armenta has been in the business for more than 30 years and offers private classes, school and tutoring programs, and specialized attention for all ages, subjects and levels. Some of the sessions geared toward special needs include neurofeedback therapy, social skills classes, speech and language support, pragmatics, executive functioning skills, skills for school success and year-round programs from 8 am to 8 pm. The academy offers classes seven days a week, providing a flexible schedule even for the busiest of kids.

“I feel small learning groups are beneficial to the student’s learning needs, and provides social skills for them as well,” says Armenta. “Making friends, feeling safe and taking risks in a nurturing and supportive environment while learning something engaging, hands-on and interacting is a fun and stimulating way for kids to learn.”

One of their most beneficial programs, she says, is the neurofeedback program, which emphasizes executive functioning skills, working and spatial memory, auditorial processing, mapping and organization skills, social skills and more.

“The program has a 91 percent success rate and is a leading learning tool for ADHD and special needs,” says Armenta.

Each program is tailored for each child’s needs to help them reach their full potential and goals. Armenta Learning Academy also offers part-time and full-time academic summer camps.

Not only does the academy help kids flourish academically and socially, but it also makes learning fun for students by offering enrichment classes including art, jewelry making, oceanography and more.
