PICK OF THE MONTH
Bear Awareness Day
Saturday, May 4th

Ursine enthusiasts will barely be able to contain their excitement over today’s activities (10 am–3 pm). Gather family and friends for a day of bear-themed activities, zookeeper chats and more. Chat with bear keepers and visit learning stations where you can discover the latest in bear research and conservation. Find out how to react in a bear encounter and ways to “bear-proof” camping sites. There will be bear-related craft projects designed for kids too.

Reservations are not needed. Activities are free with paid zoo admission ($2 per person, ages 2 & under free). Parking is $5 per vehicle.

Outlets at San Clemente Fiesta de Mayo Celebration
Saturday, May 4

The Outlets at San Clemente hosts a family-friendly Fiesta de Mayo Celebration taking place in the Oak Tree Court. The free afternoon fiesta (1 pm-3 pm) will feature local mariachis and Ballet Folklorico performances, along with food and drink specials at participating restaurants.

Goat Yoga
Saturday, May 18

Find your chi with the help of baby pygmy goats. The OC Fair, Spectra Yoga and the Fountain Valley Cloverdales 4-H Club present three 75-minute beginner-level goat yoga sessions (8 am, 9:30 am & 11 am). Folks can also just enjoy free playtime and photos with goats. Limited space; registration required. Children must be age 9 or older and accompanied by an adult.

Yappy Hour
Thursday, May 16

Dogs and their human companions will howl with joy over The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel’s Yappy Hour (actually three hours, 5 pm-8 pm). Pups will be served meat- or vegan-flavored water and house-made peanut butter biscuits, while there will be beverages and burgers and hot dogs that humans can purchase. The event benefits The Veterans Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence.

March For Babies
Saturday, May 11

The OC March For Babies is a 5k fundraising event that is part of national fundraising effort benefiting The March of Dimes. Money raised assists the nonprofit organization in its research, advocacy and programs for the health of all moms and babies. Sign-in starts at 7:30 am with the march commencing at 8:15 am. Online registration is free; however, donations are suggested.
