Best Girls Softball League

Mission Viejo Girls Softball (TIE)

The USA-affiliated, non-governmental, nonprofit Junior Olympic fast-pitch softball league wins the top spot again. Practicing at William S. Craycraft Park in Mission Viejo, this program emphasizes good sportsmanship, loyalty, honesty and courage — qualities young girls ages 5 to 15 from cities around south Orange County get to learn as they practice their skills and bond with their teammates.

Newport Mesa Girls Softball (TIE)

Home of 2024 14U All-Star USA Softball Central C District GOLD Championship Finalist and12U All-Star USA Softball C States 3rd Place Winners, sharpen skills and build confidence on the field with player development clinics led by experienced coaches, players will receive personalized instruction to improve technique and elevate their performance throughout the season. Clinics are designed to help both new and experienced players. Spots are limited.

Accredited by American Camp Association and adhering to the highest standards, kids can spend a week doing science experiments, playing gaga and sockeyball, making arts and crafts, and cooking with friends. Each day has a different theme for half the day. Or, older kids can work hands-on with counselors and children on a daily basis, implementing programming and learning skills and techniques in order to be a counselor at the JCC.

For kids ages 5 to 13, the camp offers 10 weeks of fun and learning-packed summer camp. Packages can be bought by the week. Parents can select their own schedule so campers can attend only on the weeks they desire, creating a flexible schedule for families that need it. The Shea Center for Therapeutic Riding

The Shea Center, established in 1978, provides equine-assisted services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapies, adaptive riding, mental health care, team building, and personal development. The center serves more than 1,400 participants year with the help of 28 horses and hundreds of volunteers. The Shea Center offers specialized programs addressing more than 85 disabilities and provides financial aid to support clients.

Camp Pinniped at Pacific Marine Mammal Center (TIE)

The camp allows kids to explore the words of marine mammals and marine science through a mission of rescue, research, rehabilitation, and release. Chance Theater hosts Speak Up, a free summer theater camp for kids in seventh through 12th grade. The six-week program gives them the opportunity to learn about writing, acting, directing, improvisation, performing in front of an audience and more.
