Solstice

The Boardwalk in Irvine is home to a new restaurant that is always in season, Solstice. This new restaurant concept curates its menu in harmony with the season’s harvest. “Chopped” winner, Chef Demetrio Zavala sources ingredients from all around the world to develop the seasonal menu. Solstice offers a variety of food and beverages with larger options for groups to share. This fall, the menu features dishes like Mason Jar Deviled Eggs, Malbec-Braised Wagyu Short Rib, and Celery Root Mignon. Drinks are also based on seasonal ingredients and offer elevated twists to classic cocktails. Each guest experience is unique as the design around the restaurant reflects the changes in seasons with each different dining zone. Guests have access to a bar, plenty of outdoor seating, and a view of the kitchen to watch their meal being prepared.

An accessible do-it-yourself dessert decorating studio that features a sprinkle of ASL (American Sign Language) has arrived at Ladera Ranch’s Mercantile West. Owned and operated by local Abigail Longo, The Sweet Hand welcomes customers who love to decorate desserts, along with those who want to host classes, events and private parties. Longo, who is deaf herself and has taught deaf children for years, designed A Sweet Hand for all ages. Parents of deaf or hard of hearing children can take ASL classes for free and children can partake in the ASL Story Time every other Tuesday. Those who love to create sweet treats can expect a delicious experience with pre-baked cookies, cupcakes and cakes; icing and fondant; toppings; and a take-home box if you want to take your treats home.
