PICK OF THE MONTH: Virtual OC Fair
Even though the traditional in-person OC Fair isn’t occurring this year, you can still get a fairly terrific fair experience through the magic of the Internet. With content available on ocfair.com all summer long, this virtual version presents an entertaining array of performances, contests, events, and additional family-friendly activities (including puzzles, crafts, tours, trivia, and other games). And there’s also the OC Fair Virtual Fun Run, which allows participants to run anywhere they want, at any time and they will receive a commemorative medal, a stuffed animal, and a ticket to the 2021 in-person OC Fair in the mail. The virtual event is a 5K walk or run that can be completed any time through Aug. 16, 2020. So get in some extra miles and take part in all the action. For more information or to register for the run, go to ocfair5k.com. Live OC Fair—The Fab Four at the OC Fair, ocfair.com
Baby, you can drive your car over to the fairgrounds on August 1 to see Orange County’s finest Beatles tribute band, The Fab Four, twist and shout live on stage. For this special drive-in concert night, the group will be performing two separate shows — at 7 pm and 9 pm (in fact, they’re doing two shows on July 31, too). Go to www.autosonicconcerts.com to get your tickets and show details.
Music at Casa Romantica
Enjoy cool acoustic tunes and hot java at the Casa’s latest “Coffee & Music” session, occurring August 1 between 10 am-12 pm. On August 20, you can get funky with the Backwater Blues band, while sisters Kalina & Kiana perform on August 27. Tickets must be purchased for these two shows. While these two performances are open to all ages, they aren’t geared for kids and alcohol will be served at both shows.

Dog Walking At South Coast Botanic Garden
The dog days of summer are upon us and, at the SCBG, they will be specifically happening August 12 and 26. Those are the days that the botanic garden invites dog owners to share a special time with their favorite canine roaming its 87 acres. Dog walking hours are 5 pm-8 pm, so hopefully the August sun won’t be too hot for those on two or four legs. Advanced ticketing is required.

OC Parks Virtual Experiences
While their in-person activities have been curtailed, the OC Parks is connecting with you through online content. Six days a week, they present new content centered around daily themes. #MondayMemories peeks into the park system’s historic collection while #TriviaTuesday tests your park knowledge. #WildlifeWednesday offers a park creature feature and #ThrowbackThursday goes totally retro. Enjoy a little learning on #FeatureFriday and take in some lovely views on #ScenicSaturday. Each week’s schedule is released on Sundays.
