Mother’s Day Makeover Giveaway —2024 | Parenting OC, Contest, Win A Makeover

Parenting OC Magazine teamed up with local businesses for a Deserving Mom Makeover Contest for two lucky moms who won a fabulous makeover package and a mini-portrait session to show off the final results.

Each submission included an essay about why a mother: parent, significant other, or friend is deserving of a makeover.

And the winners of Parenting OC’s 2024 Mom Makeover Contest are…

Maronel Barajas

Maronel Barajas, of Fullerton, epitomizes the essence of a dedicated mother, a compassionate friend, a loving wife and a tireless advocate for others.

As a disability rights attorney based in Orange County, her professional endeavors transcend mere duty. Day in and day out, she fervently represents families, ensuring that every child receives the benefits and rights they rightfully deserve. Her commitment to her clients reflects her profound belief in justice and equality.
Despite the demands of her challenging career, she remains a devoted mother to her two daughters, ages 11 and 7. Her boundless love for them knows no limits, and she consistently goes above and beyond to foster a nurturing and supportive environment for their growth and development. Whether it’s attending school events, assisting with homework or simply sharing joyous moments together, she prioritizes her role as a mother above all else.
What truly sets her apart is her ability to gracefully balance the demands of her career, motherhood, her role as a wife and her personal relationships.
Barajas’ deep bond with her own parents exemplifies her role as a loving daughter. Her cherished relationship with them reflects her values and the importance she places on family bonds.

Liz Gibson

Liz Gibson, of Lake Forest, embodies selflessness as a devoted mother of three, PTA president and an unwavering pillar of kindness within the community. Amid her tireless dedication to others, it is evident that she deserves to be celebrated and indulged this Mother’s Day. Since 2018, she has generously contributed countless hours to her local school, spearheading innovative programs tailored to the unique school community.
As PTA president, Gibson has led initiatives — such as the transformation of the innovation lab — that have enriched the educational landscape for children. Notably, her incorporation of Jet Propulsion Laboratory into the curriculum has propelled students into new realms of science and discovery. Her annual Fall Festival has become a cherished tradition, fostering a sense of community and raising much needed funds for the school
Gibson’s leadership extends beyond her personal contributions. She motivates and leads by example, mobilizing other parents and community members to get involved and give back to the school through PTA. Under her guidance, the Santiago STEAM Magnet PTA recently earned the prestigious 2023-24 Outstanding Unit Award by the Fourth District PTA through the Saddleback Valley Council.
