1. Huntington Beach Pier
Huntington Beach Pier is the place to be when it comes to fishing. At 1,850 feet long, the iconic pier is one of the longest on the West Coast. It’s open from 5 a.m. until midnight and because it’s public, a fishing license is not required. Bring your gear and try to get your catch, and if the effort makes you hungry, Bud & Gene’s restaurant sits at the end of the pier for a good post-fishing meal.

2. Big Bear Lake
Big Bear Lake has excellent trout fishing year-round, but you can expect to catch any of the typical lake fish, like largemouth bass, black crappie and carp, too. Fishing is allowed from a boat or from the shore and you’ll want to choose your fishing spot based on the time of year. Don’t forget to secure a fishing license and if you plan to launch a boat, you’ll need a Lake Use Permit, too.
