Vans U.S. Open of Surfing
July 27 – August 5
For the past 60 years the US Open has stood as one of the world’s top surfing events. Over the years, however, it has evolved to include world-class BMX and skateboard competitions as well.
Some new additions this year are the Vans Showdown, Vans Rebel Jam, Vans Vert Demos, Duct Tape Festival and Vans Street Market. The Vans Showdown is an invite-only street jam skate competition, featuring trick contests and cash prizes. The Vans Rebel Jam is an invite-only BMX street contest. The Vans Vert Demos showcase high-flying action all week long at the Vans Vert Ramp next to the Welcome Center. At the Duct Tape Festival, you can come out to surf, talk shaping and hang with surf enthusiasts in a comfortable community gathering. Street Market vendors include Upton Home, Burger Records, Eagle & Pig, Seea, Former, Deadbeat Club, Vinyl Solution, Leon Was Here and Skateism. It’s located next to the Vans Pro Park.

The summertime fun continues at Knott’s after the sun sets, with the park staying open until at least 10 pm during its Summer Nights. Visitors can play oversized versions of classic games, listen to live music performed on several stages, and chow down on yummy treats (such as build-your-own S’mores stations, nacho boats and grilled peach cobbler).

Mamma Mia!
August 1 – August 4
Powered by ABBA’s infectious hits like “Dancing Queen,” “Take a Chance,” “Money, Money, Money” and “SOS,” this smash musical is a real crowd-pleaser with its story of love & friendship and dazzling dance numbers. But you probably know that already. While basically a lighthearted romp, some of the plot may be a bit mature for young children.
