The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center hosts a Books and Barks event on February 17 where young readers can practice their literacy skills with an adoptable dog or other animals waiting for a home. On February 24, the Mission Viejo library presents a Paw Readathon, which lets kids hone read-aloud skills by reading to Fiona, a trained therapy dog. Aimed for children 6 and up, both programs start at 11 am. Email LibraryPrograms@cityofmissionviejo.org to register.
