CHOC Children’s Hospital Mental Health Inpatient Center
According to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), about 20% of children will experience a mental health condition during their childhood- about 150,000 children in Orange County Alone. However, as of early 2018 there were previously no psychiatric inpatient beds for patients younger than 12 years in Orange County.
CHOC seeks to change that, and tackle mental health issues with their new Mental Health Inpatient Center. Under the guidance of Dr. Heather Huszti, CHOC is opening the first center of its kind in Orange County with eighteen private patient rooms, various activity and sensory centers, and spaces for children to begin the healing process, all designed under the guidance of national mental health experts.
