You don’t need a big budget to outfit your kids with trending Halloween styles.
Beetlejuice
Black, white and stripes. Those are the three essential components that create this iconic Beetlejuice costume. Start by finding his quintessential stripes. For our look, we found these great black-and-white striped pants along with some striped suspenders. Once you have a striped staple incorporated into the outfit, you can have fun with the rest of the outfit by mixing and matching any black or white pieces. We decided to go for a more relaxed look and incorporated a black tee with a white “shacket” (shirt jacket).
Minion
To create the perfect Minion, all you need is a yellow shirt, denim overalls and some crazy goggles to bring this banana-loving character to life (which we were able to find at Goodwill OC). Grab a pair of black boots to top off the whole look and get ready for your little Minion to cause chaos.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has countless iconic looks, from the fluffy purple dress to the classic red lip and stripes. The first step to creating the ultimate Taylor Swift costume is choosing the T-Swift era or album that resonates with you or your little one the most. We channeled Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour vibes with a shimmering silver sequin skirt that was practically a replica of the one she wore during her tour. We also found a sequin shirt to add extra glam. Because you can never have too much glitter, we finished the look with a glittery pair of sandals. Don’t forget to grab a microphone to complete the costume.
Fairy Princess
A princess or fairy costume can be easily created with colorful and extravagant pieces found at Goodwill OC, where endless possibilities await your child to become a princess, a fairy or even a dazzling fairy princess. We found this gorgeous pink dress with a ruffled tutu that screams fairy princess. Since accessories are the key to completing the look, we decided to add a vibrant flower crown for a whimsical touch — but the options are endless. For the shoes, we went with an adorable pair of pink sneakers, where cuteness meets comfortability.
Bonus Decor Item: Spooky Jars
Find two glass jars (we got lucky and found some with a ghostly white tint already). Next, grab a black marker and draw spooky ghost faces on each of the jars. To add personality to our jars, don’t be afraid to go crazy with googly eyes. Feeling extra creative? Make a mummy jar too. Simply wrap some toilet paper loosely around a jar. Make these spooky jars glow by adding some battery-powered string lights inside each jar for the ultimate spooky ambience.
