48th Annual Dana Point Festival of Whales
March 2-3, 9-10
This whale-sized festival crams an incredible number of events into two weekends at Dana Point Harbor during the gray whale’s annual winter migratory ritual. The Festival of Whales Parade kicks off the festivities on Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. Attendees can view the parade from the side of Pacific Coast Highway between Selva Road and Street of the Golden Lantern, where they can enjoy the parade featuring giant helium balloons, community organizations and more. The sand sculpting competition, the clam chowder cook-off, the Diamond Dig, Dinghy Dash and the Under the Sea Eco Carnival are just some of the highlights.

California Adventure Food & Wine Festival
Friday, March 1- Tuesday, April 23
California Adventure will be stuffed with culinary discoveries this spring. This foodie fest features celebrity chef appearances, cooking demonstrations, marketplace kiosks, and special dinners. Youngsters (ages 3-11) can learn to cook with Chef Goofy at Jr. Chef Kids workshops (first come, first to participate). Some festival’s events are free with admission while others require separate tickets and reservations.

Tomatomania!
Friday, March 1 – Sunday, March 10
Attention Tomatomaniacs! Roger’s Gardens will be experiencing Tomatomania during the first 10 days of March (9 am-6 pm daily). Come have fun exploring the world’s largest tomato plant sale. This event will be peppered with seminars and demonstrations about tomatoes, peppers and other produce. While not geared for kids, they might be interested, particularly if they have a green (tomato) thumb.

Festival Ballet Theatre: The Sleeping Beauty
Saturday, March 23 – Sunday, March 24
The Festival Ballet Theatre presents this classic ballet in a family-friendly production. This iconic Tchaikovsky work includes such famous storybook favorites as Princess Aurora, Puss’n Boots, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. Several dancers from major ballet companies will perform with FBT’s own talented dancers for these shows (7:30 pm March 23; 2 pm March 24).

Pinners Conference & Expo California

The Ontario Convention Center hosts Pinners Conference & Expo California, an event where lifestyle experts connect with those who love to craft, cook and create. Originating as a women’s expo, the idea of a Pinterest-inspired expo was born. Some specialty classes include hand lettering, styling a customized gallery wall, sewing and quilting classes, photography workshops, party planning, food arts, beauty secrets and even designing a DIY wedding centerpiece.
