Mother’s Day Makeover Contest 2021

And the Makeover Winners Are…

To celebrate the hard-working, self-less moms of our community, Parenting OC Magazine teamed up with local businesses to give two lucky moms a fabulous makeover package. Family and friends submitted essays about why a mother in their life is deserving of a makeover. A huge congratulations to Judy Tejwani and Haydee Vollagomez for winning Parenting OC’s 2021 Mother’s Day Makeover!

Deserving Mom Essay Winner Judy Tejwani of San Juan Capistrano, CA

“Her selflessness, thoughtfulness and resourcefulness are what has guided her entire life – from her rise out of childhood poverty and abuse, to achieving a successful career, to her successful 45 year marriage, and raising her three daughters. My mom worked full time and went back to school when we were little so she could improve her career aspects. She never neglected to make a big deal out of every birthday and big event in our lives. A very talented seamstress, she made our Halloween costumes and school dance dresses. Her desire to always put us first contributed to a beautiful childhood in a loving home. My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 23 years ago. He has very slowly deteriorated over the years, and as of February this year, he’s entered end stage Parkinsons. He is now bed-ridden, requires around the clock care, and needs assistance to do everything. My mom’s every waking minute is focused on my dad’s care and making sure he enjoys the best quality of life. She has completely stopped attending to her own needs.”

Deserving Mom Essay Winner Haydee Villagomez of Garden Grove, CA

“I want to acknowledge this amazing woman, wife, mother of two girls who gives of herself wholeheartedly to not only our family but all others who come in contact with her. She takes care of our two adorable adoptive girls selflessly, attending to all their needs both at home and at school as a room mother for our 5-year-old girls. She also takes care of our 8-month-old, cooks, cleans and makes running a house look easy. While being a full-time nurse. I honestly find her amazing while also taking care of her elderly in-law mother and father. She is my rock and inspiration. I want to do more for her but she somehow manages to trumpet my efforts. I owe my line to the incredible woman. She deserves so much more. I pray for her every day. The amazing thing about her is that does everything with a smile and gives 100 percent to everything that she does.”
