There’s something refreshing about a glass of strawberry lemonade, especially when it’s made from scratch. It’s the perfect summer treat — bursting with sweet, juicy strawberries and the tang of fresh lemon, it’s the drink that brings sunshine to any moment. Whether you’re sipping it by the pool or sharing it with family at a backyard barbecue, this strawberry lemonade is a crowd-pleaser every time. Ready to sip on something sweet and tart? Let’s make it!
Ingredients:
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water (for the syrup)
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-5 lemons)
- 3-4 cups cold water (adjust to taste)
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and fresh mint for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Make the strawberry syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar and 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it cook for 10-15 minutes, until the strawberries break down and the syrup thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Once the syrup has cooled, strain it through a fine mesh sieve to remove the solids. You should have a smooth, vibrant syrup.
- Combine the syrup and lemon juice: In a large pitcher, mix the strawberry syrup with the fresh lemon juice. Stir well to combine.
- Add cold water to the pitcher, adjusting the amount based on how sweet or tart you want the lemonade to be. Taste and adjust sweetness with more sugar or syrup, if needed.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes, then pour the strawberry lemonade over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint for an extra pop of color and freshness.
- Serve chilled, sip and enjoy the perfect balance of sweet and tart!
