Stay hydrated and refreshed during the hot season with one or more of these frozen drinks you can enjoy with your family.
Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen
Cha Cha’s Platinum Mojito is our favorite version of the white rum cocktail. Platinum rum, fresh lime juice, cane sugar and plenty of mint get churned in a slushee machine to make this frosty frozen cocktail. The Irvine location is open for take-out, patio dining and free delivery for orders over $75.

Sonic Drive-In
There’s cold and then there is crushed ice cold. Sonic Drive-In serves their beverages over a uniquely shaped ice known as “nugget ice” that has a pretty big fan base. Fans also love their famous slushes, made with blended ice. There are traditional flavors like cherry and grape, plus blue-coconut, cherry-limeade and strawberry made with real fresh fruit. And since Sonic’s drive-through is open late (until 1 a.m.), anytime is a good time to crush a slush.

Zero Degrees
This Asian-Hispanic fusion chain offers coffee horchata alongside boba milk tea, sometimes in the same cup. They’re known for their “split cup” that makes room for two separate beverages in one vessel, but their Mangonada is hands down their best seller. This mango slush with a swirl of chamoy, a sprinkle of Tajin and fresh mango chunks is sweet with heat. Zero Degrees is available for delivery on DoorDash, Postmates and Uber Eats.

Vacation Bar
When the pandemic began, Vacation Bar placed a huge sign that read “Vacation Bar ‘Hearts’ You!” in their downtown Santa Ana window. And you really can feel that love the eclectic bar puts into its cocktails named for the exotic places that inspired them. Like the Bangkok, Thailand made with toasted coconut, Thai basil and Scotch. They are open for outdoor dining but if you want to get to paradise without leaving your sofa, try their recipe below. This frozen drink is a fun twist on a lava flow that uses smokey mezcal and tequila blanco instead of rum.
