The Goodwill of Orange County is coming to Cypress. This is the Goodwill’s 25th location in Orange County but the first ever in the city of Cypress, which will open later this year. Shoppers will find a unique selection of housewares and furniture items, clothing for all ages, sporting goods, electronics, accessories and so much more. “We are thrilled to bring Goodwill of Orange County’s unique retail experience to Cypress and the surrounding communities for the first time,” Nicole Suydam, president and CEO of Goodwill of Orange County, said in a statement. “By shopping with us, customers will discover one-of-a-kind goods that create positive change here in Orange County. More than 92 cents of every dollar spent at the store, and all of our stores, is reinvested into Goodwill’s life-changing programs and services that help people facing barriers find meaningful employment.” This location will also feature the first drive-through donation drop-off, making the experience easier than ever.

On Oct. 30, the highly anticipated Benjamin & Carmela Du Emergency Pavilion, named for two generous local donors, opened at Hoag Hospital Irvine. The facility includes 32 private treatment rooms, private family consultation rooms, two triage areas, four fast-track stations and increased telemedicine through robotics for pediatrics, stroke and other complex patient conditions. Marcy Brown, vice president of Hoag Hospital Irvine and Ambulatory Services, is grateful for the generosity of the Dus and what it will mean for the South County community. “What the Dus have done is tremendous and will help us transform health care in our growing community through improved patient experience in the emergent care setting,” she said in a statement.
