The new year is always a chance for a clean slate, a fresh new start. And 2022 is no different.
In fact, that might be exactly what many families are looking forward to just about now.
Our January issue focuses on that forward-looking notion in the form of education as well as health and wellness. For one of our features, we profile mompreneur and local celebrity Ashley Wahler about being on a reality TV show (“The Hills: New Beginnings”) — especially how she and her husband have used it as a platform to educate and raise awareness about addiction. It’s a story you won’t want to miss. Our other main feature spotlights public schools for 2022. How have things gone so far in the “new return to normal” and what’s the outlook for the rest of the school year? Another important topic you won’t want to miss.
Meanwhile, Family Wellness takes a fresh look at New Year’s resolutions and rather than resolving to lose weight or make new friends, for example, the idea hits at the root of goal-setting: consistency. Ask the Expert answers some key questions on a very relevant topic: What should parents know about the COVID-19 vaccine for younger kids? Mindfulness discusses ways parents can support their children in building upon their passions.
On the inspirational front, Local Hero introduces us to local mom, social worker and entrepreneur Kimberly Luu — owner of dessert parlor Polar Playground in Huntington Beach — who uses her social media presence to help others.
We also have a new contest in our POC Community section you’ll want to check out, as well as our Private School Directory and calendar of activities for starting the new year.
We look forward to the year ahead and happy 2022!
