As we enter that in-between month when summer playtime turns into back-to-school shopping, Parenting OC is here to guide you through the hectic transition.
From SoCal theme parks keeping those final days of summer as fresh and interactive as possible to an in-depth feature on everything you need to get your kids to keep them stylish at school—we’ve got you covered.
But since shopping for clothing isn’t the only purchase you’ll be making come school’s start, we also have a fun roundup of unique back-to-school toys.
In all the craziness that is back-to-school prep, it’s also important to remember to sit back for some quality time with the family. Read up on some great tips for summer family bonding that kicks things a little old school with fun activities you can do at home.
For a little inspiration, take a look at our Local Hero—this month he’s of the furry kind—a Siberian husky who has turned around his own abuse to now help comfort children in the community.
August is a time of change, but it doesn’t have to be all stressful. It can also turn into an opportunity for new beginnings and exciting endeavors.
Such is the case with my new position as editor for Parenting OC. As a professional journalist for nearly 20 years, I’ve covered a long list of themes and for many different publications and websites. When I began my career as a community reporter all those years back for the Orange County Register—where I stayed for about 14 years in various capacities—some of the first stories I covered related to children and education. It’s something I have continued covering throughout the years, and something that has always inspired me as a reporter.
Now as the new editor, I plan to take all the experience I’ve acquired as a multimedia journalist over the years to connect with the highly active and engaged community of parents we have here in Orange County. We are here to support you as a parent in whichever way we can—whether that means helping you find the best way to unwind after a tough day or where to take your kids out for a day of fun and learning. It’s a big world here in the OC when it comes to families, and we plan to continue to explore that world in words, images and even more video.
I hope to hear from you soon if you have something you’d like us to share with the rest of our readership. Or if you just want to say hello.
