Parenting OC’s Jam at the Cube
With over 2,000 in attendance, Parenting OC’s 10th annual Jamboree at the Cube was a huge success. Held at the iconic Discovery Cube Science Center in Santa Ana, over 50 exhibitors and attractions, including the popular Cute Kid Cover Contest with over 120 entrants, awaited visitors.
The Jamboree at the Cube was a true family event. While parents were getting crucial facetime with camp administrators and relaxed as they planned their kids’ long summer months with fun activities in Orange County and beyond, kids not only enjoyed free admission to the Cube, but put on labcoats to conduct scientific research with Bionerds, played with the puppies provided by Barks of Love, and even had their picture taken with Curious George and Jedi knights.
The event’s success was enhanced by Parenting OC Magazine’s partnership with The Discovery Cube of OC, which will be continuing with other events over the next year and beyond. Although fun was had by all, connecting parents with the exhibitors to gather information and make decisions for their kids’ free time during school break was key.
“By providing marketing, table, tablecloth, chairs, and tons of interested parents, this event was well worth our time,” said Melissa Torres, exhibitor, City of Newport Beach. “The venue was spacious, cool, and had great acoustics. It was a comfortable and open environment that made it easy to talk with all parents and interested visitors about our summer camps and classes. We will definitely be back.”
We at Parenting OC Magazine would like to thank all of our exhibitors, as well as PBS for the special appearance by Curious George, Nicole Grimm and Party Karacters for bringing out the Jedi knights, Whole Foods for providing giveaway bags to the first 500 guests, Extreme Gametruck, OC Ramps and Basics of Skateboarding and the Reptile Zoo for the live animal showcase. We would also like to thank the sponsors of our First Annual Family Jamboree Scavenger Hunt: Burke Williams Spa, Billy Beez, USA Junior Soccer, Grace Harbor Church and School, Galileo Innovation Camps, Camp James, CSArts Academy, Smile Wide Dental, Stepping Forward Counseling Center, and Walk for Wishes.
We look forward to making next year’s event even more fun and valuable for the hardworking parents of Orange County.

The 10th Annual Jamboree — Get Cubed or Be Square
SANTA ANA, CA (January 14, 2016) – Parenting OC magazine has partnered with Discovery Cube in Santa Ana to present the 10th Anniversary Edition of the Kids’ Summer Opportunities Jamboree event, to take place on March 5, 2016 at the iconic Orange County family destination. Discovery Cube, which expanded this past summer, doubling in size, and adding among other attractions, the 10,000 square-foot Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater, is the leading hands-on science center for families in Southern California. On the day of the Jamboree event, which is free to attend, the Center is also offering free childrens’ passes for admittance to the Cube.
“We wanted to do something big and exciting for our 10th annual Jamboree,” said Parenting OC Media President Randall Tierney, regarding the choice to hold the event at the Cube. “It doesn’t get any bigger than this.”
The Jamboree event, which will take place in the Showcase Theater, features exhibitors specializing in summer fun and learning opportunities for families, including overnight camps, day camps, sports leagues and clinics, outdoor adventures, horse and cattle ranches, surf and swim programs, science and technology camps and more.
“Sending your child off to camp, or to any summer program for the matter, is not something parents do on a whim. At the Jamboree, moms and dads can research and talk with the program leaders and camp directors face-to-face, and get all their questions answered. Then they can head off for a full day of fun at the Cube.” Free passes are available to all children, ages 3 to 14, for admittance on the day of the Jamboree event. The tickets (each valued at $12.95) can be downloaded from www.parentingoc.com.
Admission to the Jamboree is free. Saturday, March 5, 2016, 10 am to 3pm, at Discovery Cube, 2500 N. Main St., Santa Ana, CA, 92705. For more information, call 714-630-4510 x 6.
